Iguana (male) sent on June 26, 2013 (13:17) by Michela Checchetto. 102 comments, 9728 views. [retina]

at 200mm, 1/60 f/5.6, ISO 400, hand held. Specie: Iguana iguana

Incontrare questi splendidi rettili in Messico è cosa frequente. >

When the Spaniards arrived in the New World (sixteenth century) and saw for the first time the iguana they were amazed. Gonzalo Fernandez de Oviedo, in his "Sumario de la natural historia de las Indias", describes it as: "A species of snake, fierce and frightening to the eye (...), of which it is determined whether it is animal or fish because it lives in the water and also on the trees and on the ground, has four legs, is bigger than a rabbit, has a tail like a lizard and all colored skin, neck and along the spine straight and some spines and teeth fangs and a goiter long and wide, ranging from beard to his chest, made of skin; shut up, no moans or cries or issue voice. " Of "your" iguana've done a wonderful portrait silver, of extraordinary sharpness, very impressive!
