Questa scultura lignea a grandezza naturale si trova nelle acque del fiume Bacchiglione a Padova proprio ai piedi della Specola, sede del Museo dell'Osservatorio Astronomico. La "Madonna dell'acqua lurida" è il nome dell'opera realizzata dall'artista padovano Federico Soffiato con un tronco di larice proveniente dal Trentino, abbattuto dalla tempesta Vaia; rappresenta la Madonna che protegge il proprio bambino tappandogli dolcemente il naso per non fargli sentire la puzza dell'acqua contaminata in cui si trova immersa. L'autore con questa opera ha voluto denunciare lo scempio e l'inquinamento che la speculazione e l'indifferenza degli uomini provocano ai danni del mare e del pianeta, così tanto che anche Maria è impotente di fronte al disastro.
