Hello Sergio, well set and full of warm light this u catojo that does not differ at all from the small semi-ruined huts that are located in the mountains where I live in Veneto, huts used until just over the 1960s even by my grandparents, poor people who did haymaking and forest work between steep slopes .... . Well done to you, have a good night, bye.

Thank you Giovanni and Davide for your nice comment on this image.
Thank you also for the historical notes of the Venetian tradition. I like to know. Veneto, then, is a region, which like Sicily embraces different landscapes and cultures: from the maritime to the plain and the mountainous, from the river to the lake
Greetings and welcome back to the forum

A subject whose setting tastes of the south and the Mediterranean. I see, in this photo, my grandfather's hut, built of stone, and the row of prickly pear in his olive grove. How close there is in the habits and customs of the peasants, wherever they are! Nice proposal and nice story. Congratulations for the photo and for the beautiful story.

In small towns and in the countryside, even here in Tuscany, there are huts and rooms used for the shelter of the farmer or to keep food at a certain temperature.
Splendid composition and interesting caption

Thank you Pierpaolo for your appreciation of the shot and thank you very much for your in-depth study of the agro-pastoral traditions of Tuscany.
Do you know a Tuscan dialect name for buildings similar to this one?
The term Sicilian does not have a counterpart in Italian, similar structures can be referred to as shed, but it is not entirely corresponding.
I have been notified of the Venetian name as "baito", I would like to collect the definition in the various dialects
Thank you very much for your passage
Greetings and happy Sunday

Those that can be found in the open countryside come to mind only hut, at least in my part of the Maremma; As for the room in the village, my uncle (my grandmother's brother who had done the First World War and an old merchant with the barroccio (horse-drawn cart) first and a grocery store/bar later) called this room the "caciaia" where he kept various wheels of cheese ;-)

Thank you Pierpaolo.
Thank you for adding a piece to the curiosity about a world (the agro-pastoral one) that I knew and frequented as a child, now lived more rarely. The "caciaia", where the cheeses are kept. I like it! ;-)
Many warm greetings
Sergio
