Si dice che questo luogo sia infestato dalla strega Cailleach, anche nota come Beira, regina dell'inverno. La leggenda narra che la strega, stanca per la lunga giornata passata a pascolare cervi, si sia addormentata durante il suo compito di coprire la sorgente con una lastra di pietra al tramonto e di sollevare la roccia all'alba, inondando così accidentalmente la valle e formando Loch Awe. In verità, in Scozia, le Cailleachan sono note anche come le Streghe delle Tempeste. Si dice che siano particolarmente attive nell'alzare le tempeste di vento e se è così credo proprio di averne sperimentato la potenza!
