Sestiere San Marco, Venezia ... novembre 2022 ... L'austero palazzo Contarini del Bovolo, edificio tardogotico ubicato nel sestiere di San Marco, fu realizzato alla fine del Trecento quale nobile dimora della famiglia Contarini di San Patrignian; nel 1499 i maggiorenti della casata, forse per sopperire all'eccesiva sobrietà della facciata prospicente il Rio di San Luca, fecero aggiungere al prospetto su corte del Maltese la strepitosa torre rotonda impreziosita da una sequenza di monofore e con al suo interno un'ardita scala a chiocciola. chiocciola che in dialetto veneziano si traduce in "bovolo", termine che di lì a poco divenne parte integrante del nome della casata! ...
