28 Marzo 2024. Le Gorges d'Ardeche offrono uno dei più affascinanti spettacoli naturali di Francia con la sua natura varia e selvaggia. La strada panoramica D290 costeggia l'orlo sinistro della gola. L'ingresso alla grandiosa e ripida valle è rappresentato dal Pont-d'Arc, una rupe intorno al quale un tempo il fiume scorreva, finchè l'erosione continua delle acque non vi ha scavato un apertura. L'Ardeche sgorga dal Massiccio di Mazan a 1467 m e scorre per 119 km nella Valle del Rodano. Il fiume nel corso superiore attraversa ripidi pendii, mentre in quello inferiore ha scavato un letto profondo negli strati calcarei e le acque sotterranee hanno formato diverse grotte e insenature. Il livello dell'acqua è molto variabile in relazione alle precipitazioni: la portata del fiume può passare d 2,5 a 7000 metri cubi al secondo! Soprattutto in autunno si può assistere a piene impressionanti dove un vero e proprio muro d'acqua si riversa a valle alla velocità di 20 Km/h.
