Durante la Grande Guerra su questi monti ci furono battaglie accanite, flora e soprattutto fauna scomparvero sotto la furia del fuoco. Tra gli anni 1970 fino a oggigiorno ci sono stati diversi interventi di recupero fauna, molti gli animali selvatici liberati, provenienti dal Parco Nazionale del Gran Paradiso e non solo.
