Makoko, la “Venezia dell'Africa” come viene chiamata qui, la baraccopoli galleggiante più grande al mondo, ospita una solida comunità di oltre 300mila persone. Questo straordinario insediamento è alle prese con una serie di sfide, prima fra tutte la terribile assenza di infrastrutture e servizi essenziali, come elettricità, acqua potabile e strutture igienico-sanitarie. Immerse nel cuore di Lagos, il centro economico più grande e in rapida espansione dell'Africa, le palafitte di Makoko galleggiano sull'acqua, che paradossalmente funge anche da sistema fognario per i 20 milioni di abitanti di questa vibrante metropoli. Oltre ai suoi problemi infrastrutturali, Makoko deve far fronte a problemi pervasivi che comprendono povertà, l'accesso limitato all'istruzione e scarsità sanitaria.
