La famiglia delle Medinilla è composta da più di 200 varietà che crescono nelle Fuiji, Borneo, Filippine e Madagascar. E una pianta che cresce allo stato selvatico sugli alberi, in altre parole è una pianta Epifita. L'esempio più noto di Epifita è l'orchidea che crea radici aeree sui rami degli alberi. La Medinilla ha un approccio diverso, essa si annida nelle cavità dei rami vicino all'albero e fa crescere le radici nelle foglie cadute in queste cavità. Estrae i nutrimenti dalle foglie in decomposizione. La varietà da me ritratta è la Medinilla Dolce Rossa. Scatto singolo e luce naturale.
