Una foto scattata il mese scorso durante una delle ultime esplorazioni notturne di quest'anno. Da metà agosto le notti sono molto umide, cade moltissima rugiada e c'è vento. Quella notte, insieme al vento è arrivato anche un forte temporale con tuoni e fulmini, una grande occasione per fotografare particolari scene di vita dei piccoli animali. Prima della pioggia ho chiuso ermeticamente gli zaini portando in mano solo la fotocamera e i flash, in questi momenti preferisco stare leggero. Dopo pochi minuti la terra si è trasformata in fango e gli animali notturni come gechi, falene, grilli e lumache hanno interrotto le loro attività per ripararsi velocemente nelle tane o nell'erba. Ho iniziato allora ad esplorare lentamente il sottobosco in cerca di tane e posti nascosti. In un buco nel tronco di un melo, questa lucertola campestre ha trovato riparo per la notte, è un ottimo nascondiglio perché è abbastanza profondo da non far arrivare la pioggia. Mi sono avvicinato lentamente per non spaventarla e quando ho acceso la luce dei flash, ha aperto gli occhi e mi ha guardato, ma non si è spaventata ed ha ripreso subito a dormire. Non è la prima volta che gli animali si comportano così nei miei confronti, ma ogni volta mi stupisco nel notare la loro furbizia. La cavità era abbastanza grande da poter entrare dentro con l'ottica, mi sono fermato ad osservarla per diversi minuti ma le ho fatto poche foto per non spaventarla e farla scappare. Quella notte è stata molto proficua dal punto di vista fotogafico.
