Il Lixus pulverulentus è un coleottero della famiglia dei curculionidi. È un insetto fitofago, sia gli adulti che le larve si nutrono di Asteraceae, Malva e Alcea rosea, piante molto comuni nel mio terreno. La loro particolarità è la testa allungata a forma di proboscide, chiamata rostro, alla cui estremità si trova l'apparato boccale. Come potete vedere in foto, le femmine hanno il rostro più lungo e robusto e lo usano per scavare buchi nei tessuti vegetali per deporre le uova. Foto scattata in piena notte il mese scorso durante una delle mie esplorazioni notturne. Per individuare e fotografare i piccoli animali bisogna conoscere bene la natura, camminare molto e osservare attentamente il terreno e le piante
