A solar disk... textbook! sent on March 10, 2022 (10:17) by Daniele Bonfiglio. 52 comments, 5840 views.  [editors pick] [retina]

1/100 f/16.0, ISO 400, tripod. Montagnana, Italy.

I congratulate you on the EP. The finesse of the details of this image obtained with equipment, it must be said, 'amateur' is exceptional. Greetings

Great, great, great! I really like the result you got, a very truthful and didactic image with a precise accompanying note.

I just wonder if for such photos it is necessary to use special filters to avoid damage to the sensor?!
Good light!
Hello John

... more than a filter, a telescope specially designed for observation and solar photography 8-)

Thank you so much Juza for selecting this photo (my second Editor's pick!) and thank you all for the comments. I confirm what Fabio and Serafino write about my equipment. I just put in this gallery a photo of my photo setup for solar photos in H-alpha, so you can get a clearer idea of how they are obtained. In the description of that photo (and also in the caption of the gallery, as suggested by Fabio) I put a fairly extensive explanation of the photographic setup and what it allows you to photograph.
Hello everyone and thanks again!
Daniel

Wonder of shooting... how did you protect the sensor?

Thanks also to you Fujiman! As I wrote above, the solar telescope I used has an interference filter that selects only light in the H-alpha wavelength, while the rest is reflected. This also has the effect of greatly reducing the intensity of the light that reaches the sensor, so there are no problems for the sensor itself. In large-aperture solar telescopes, energy rejection filters are used in front of the telescope, or IR cut filters in intermediate-aperture telescopes. Hello, Daniele

Daniel exhaustive explanation!
I imagined something like this in fact... for safety I limit myself to lunar shots ;-)
