Palazzo Farnese - Caprarola -- Dalle mappe dei grandi navigatori, una delle stanze affrescate più grandi ed affascinanti del Palazzo Farnese: la stanza delle Carte Geografiche, o del mappamondo, con un sorprendente dettaglio delle terre scoperte nella seconda metà del '500. La stanza del Mappamondo è la più grande insieme a quella dei Fasti Farnesiani dove viene celebrata la storia e la gloriosa ascesa della famiglia Farnese. Anche la Sala del Mappamondo, quindi, doveva essere un luogo di rappresentanza di pari importanza e suggestione, per cui il card. Alessandro Farnese incaricò dell'esecuzione un amico del suo dotto consigliere Fulvio Orsini, Giovanni Antonio da Varese detto "il Vanosino", coadiuvato da Raffaellino Motta da Reggio e Giovanni De Vecchi.
