La cima del Carè Alto, con i suoi 3465 metri sul livello del mare, è la principale emergenza del settore orientale del gruppo dell'Adamello: isolata e imponente, si eleva sulla lunghissima dorsale nord-sud che dalla Val di Genova scende per oltre cinquanta chilometri sino a Daone. Il nome Carè, diffuso originariamnete in Val di Fumo e trascritto nell'Atlante del Tirolo edito nel 1823, pare derivi dal termine latino "carex", indicante una pianticella diffusa sui terreni paludosi ai piedi della vertiginosa e spettacolare parete sud della montagna ...
