Per puro caso, un fine settimana di settembre mi imbatto in una manifestazione storica a Palmanova (UD) che scopro essere la più grande rievocazione storica napoleonica d'Italia. Estratto del volantino: Tra le più grandi fortezze europee, Palmanova fu fondata nel 1593 dai Veneziani per la difesa dei suoi confini. La Fortezza è infine completata con la sua terza cerchia difensiva a partire dal 1806 sotto il dominio napoleonico. Nel 1809 per la prima volta Palma è cinta d'assedio. “Palma alle Armi 1809 L'Assedio" rievoca questo episodio, quando la fortezza fu bloccata dalle truppe austriache a seguito della ritirata dell'armata franco-italiana verso il Tagliamento e l'Adige. Per un mese, nella primavera di quell'anno, Palma fu bloccata e bombardata fino alla sua liberazione; la fine delle ostilità fu firmata nell'ottobre del 1809.
