Vi avevo parlato di una curiosità nel post precedente, nel bosco delle fate il sentiero comincia a salire attraverso una maestosa faggeta, ed eccoci qua a percorrerlo per giungere alla “Ghiacciaia” seguendo un percorso ben segnalato. La Ghiacciaia prende questo nome dalla consuetudine esistita fino agli anni '50 di depositare, nella grotta naturale creatasi sotto enormi massi, e chiusa all'epoca con adeguata porta di legno, blocchi di neve compressa utilizzati quindi per la conservazione dei cibi. La Ghiacciaia venne usata principalmente dall'Albergo Michelangelo, attivo fino al dopoguerra, oltre che, a scopo terapeutico, dai medici del luogo. Cavità naturali di questo genere, originate dall'acqua infiltratasi attraverso le fratture della roccia, sono molto diffuse nella zona.
