Parlo per me: le mie prove si focus stacking sono a livello estremamente dilettantistico perchè le sequenze di foto da combinare sono fatte a mano, focheggiando micrometricamente a mano, per poi unirle con un free software  ... niente di così complicato però  ... basta scattare 4 o 5 frame mettendo a fuoco sul punto più prossimale del soggetto e progressivamente su altri punti intermedi fino a quello più distale e poi far unire questi scatti dal software. Se le cose sono andate bene, ne viene fuori una immagine di insieme ben nitida, altrimenti si butta tutto nel cestino 
I veri professionisti di questa tecnica (e basta vedere in giro su Juza) sfruttano le possibilità automatiche offerte dalle fotocamere di ultima generazione e, probabilmente, anche dei software più professionali e riescono a fondere in una unica, godibile, immagine delle sequenze di 20 o 30 o 40 scatti e più
Con questa tecnica, che sto tentando di apprendere, sto cercando di dare quella profondità di campo (o di fuoco) a quelle foto macro casalinghe che si realizzano su treppiede e che non avrebbero la stessa nitidezza pur chiudendo il diaframma al massimo valore e così do sfogo pure alla mia voglia di scattare foto anche quando non posso andare in giro e sono costretto a stare a casa
