Aprile 2020 - In pieno lockdown la reflextrap posizionata nel bosco ha ripreso il passaggio di diversi animali tra cui lui, un bellissimo lupo maschio dal mantello scuro. Ma riavvolgiamo il nastro, tutto ha inizio a fine gennaio quando percorrendo un sentiero trovo le tracce di 3 lupi accompagnate da diversi punti di marcatura. Decido allora di posizionare qualche fototrappola nel bosco; nel frattempo gli avvistamenti nei dintorni del paese proseguono. Riesco ad ottenere i primi video ma con la reflex-trap fotografo solo volpi e lepri. Ad inizio marzo un'abbondante nevicata costringe i lupi a scendere di quota, li riprendo in pieno giorno mentre si spostano ma a questo punto sono solo in due, dov'è il terzo? Per qualche settimana le fototrappole non registrano più il loro passaggio, e a causa del lockdown gli avvistamenti calano drasticamente. Alla fine della prima decade di marzo riesco a fotografare una lupa intenta a cibarsi di un giovane cervo predato durante la notte. Probabilmente è lei il terzo lupo lupo ed ha abbandonato la coppia alpha. Una sera di fine aprile mi reco nel bosco per sostituire le batterie della reflex, sono circa le 19, quando vedo apparire un “cane” così penso:“che pa**e ancora gente in giro a quest'ora” poco dopo ne appare un altro; il secondo non lascia spazio a dubbi, non si trattava di cani ma bensì della coppia di lupi che per settimane avevo spiato nei video delle fototrappole. Non più di quindici metri ci separano, sono paralizzato dall'emozione, un rapido scambio di sguardi poi fuggono nel bosco. Ad ingannarmi è stata la colorazione scura del primo lupo, il maschio della coppia, decisamente più grande della femmina. Fortunatamente c'è ancora neve al suolo e le loro impronte sono rimaste ben impresse permettendomi di osservare a confronto la dimensione delle zampe dei due animali. Qualche giorno dopo tornando a recuperare la reflex per la fine del lockdown ho trovato questo scatto; eccolo il mio lupo scuro. Da allora per tutto il periodo estivo ne ho perso le tracce, saltuariamente mi giungeva notizia di qualche avvistamento o predazione a fine primavera, poi il nulla fino a qualche settimana fa, quando per due giorni consecutivi una fototrappola ha ripreso nuovamente la coppia durante degli spostamenti nelle ore notturne.
