La fontana del Porcellino È una tradizione, un porta fortuna, un simbolo di Firenze. Si può trovare una sua copia nel parco del castello di Enghien in Belgio; a Aix-en-Provence, in Francia e due a Monaco di Baviera. La statua del “Porcellino” posta a sinistra della Loggia del Mercato Nuovo è una delle attrazioni più visitate e “toccate” di Firenze. Il Porcellino in realtà è un cinghiale. È stato realizzato sulla base del marmo ellenistico regalato da Pio IV a Cosimo I dei Medici nel 1560. Successivamente Cosimo II decise che quella statua - oggi si trova agli Uffizi - doveva essere adeguatamente celebrata, per questo nel 1612 commissionò a Pietro Tacca, allievo del Giambologna, una copia in Bronzo per abbellire Palazzo Pitti. L'opera, conclusa nel 1633 per volere di Ferdinando II de' Medici fu posizionata vicino alla Loggia del Mercato Nuovo e trasformata in una fontana (all'incirca nel 1640). Una delle tradizioni più seguite a Firenze è il "magico" tocco del naso del “Porcellino”. Si dice infatti che porti molta fortuna prima toccargli il muso (che infatti è la parte più splendente dell'animale), poi il rituale prevede che si metta nella bocca del cinghiale una moneta, se questa cade nella grata dove l'acqua defluisce si avrà tanta fortuna, in caso contrario no.(da Firenze Today) Grazie di cuore a tutti gli amici che lasceranno un commento o una critica.
