Il Museo Revoltella è una galleria d'arte moderna di Trieste. Fu la casa dove visse il barone Pasquale Revoltella il quale alla sua morte, avvenuta nel 1869, la lasciò alla città assieme a tutte le sue opere, gli arredamenti ed i libri che essa conteneva. Nel 1872 il Comune la fece diventare un museo. Oltre alle sale che ospitano le mostre, è interessante visitare anche l'appartamento privato del barone, sontuosamente arredato, come questa sala, destinata ai pranzi di gala. Occupata da un grande tavolo da trentasei posti, è rivestita in stucco bianco con finiture dorate, che nella parte alta formano un motivo decorativo sul tema della caccia. Il camino in marmo è ornato da pregiate statuette e sovrastato da un ampio specchio in cui si riflette la luce di tre grandi lampadari di cristallo con bracci a motivi floreali. Segue il “salotto azzurro“, dominato dal Ritratto dell'arciduca Massimiliano (eseguito nel 1868 da Augusto Tominz, un anno dopo la sua fucilazione in Messico) e arredato con raffinati mobili in legno scuro arricchiti da intarsi metallici. Anche il lampadario si accorda con i colori del mobilio. A un angolo della stanza una bella stufa in maiolica bianca richiama gli interni d'impronta austriaca e aggiunge una nota diversa al tono generale della casa che sembra ispirato più dallo stile francese. -------------------------------------------- Se vi capita di andare a Trieste non dimenticate i suoi Musei sono stupendi, ben tenuti e organizzati e quasi tutti ad ingresso gratuito. ------------------------------------------- Commenti e critiche come sempre, molto graditi.
