Ho amato l'Africa molto prima di cominciare ad andarci. Me ne ero costruita un'immagine, fatta un po' di realtà e un po', forse, di fantasia. Nei tanti viaggi che ho fatto e nei tanti luoghi che ho visitato, ognuno, a suo modo, di una bellezza unica e particolare, non avevo mai incontrato uno scenario che vi corrispondesse. Poi, qualche mese fa, per la prima volta, il Serengeti. L'Africa come me l'ero immaginata. Verdi pianure senza fine, punteggiate dagli ombrelli delle acacie e popolate da una moltitudine di animali, un cielo pieno di nubi in movimento. Un'Africa da cartolina, senza dubbio, così idilliaca da sembrare irreale. Ma era, finalmente, la "mia" Africa...
