La storia e l'economia delle Langhe sono state segnate dal percorso intrapreso dal vitigno Nebbiolo (l'unico utilizzabile al 100% per la produzione del Barolo, con le diverse sottovarietà: Lampia, Michet e Rosè), coltivato in zone uniche, nel tempo divenute veri must e fiori all'occhiello, nonché simbolo di orgoglio e vanto che ogni anno i quasi 800 produttori mostrano al panorama vinicolo mondiale. Come vogliono tradizione e disciplinare di produzione, i comuni in cui l'uva Nebbiolo diventa Barolo sono 11, distribuiti su un'area di circa 1700 ettari: Cherasco, Verduno, Roddi, La Morra, Grinzane Cavour, Castiglione Falletto, Diano d'Alba, Barolo, Novello, Serralunga d'Alba e Monforte d'Alba, le 11 essenze, i volti, che compongono la DOCG Barolo dal 1980. Ogni comune, zona, sottozona, vigneto e parcella sono espressioni magiche ed eterogenee, che si celano dentro ogni singola annata e bottiglia.
