Nel centro storico di Roma, incuneata tra il Senato della Repubblica e il Pantheon, palpita la “basilica della carità”. È la basilica di Sant'Eustachio, nella quale accade qualcosa d'inconsueto: ogni giorno, da sei anni, alcune tavole vengono apparecchiate in fondo alla navata e viene offerto il pranzo ai poveri della zona. L'iniziativa è nata da don Pietro Sigurani, romano, 83 anni Rettore della Basilica. Recentemente ha addirittura recuperato la vecchia abitazione del generale Placidus, poi convertitosi e divenuto Eustachio, e l'ha adibita a “Casa della misericordia” con servizi, bar e docce per persone senza fissa dimora e famiglie fragili.
