Beautiful shot, without ifs and buts.
Congratulations.
An info. What is the reason for choosing ISO 800 over a lower ISO, such as ISO 100?
Would longer time break?
Thank you.
Fabio.

What a joke, taken under the Tuckett, if I'm not mistaken on the path to the Brentei Sanctuary.
Stunning photo, unexceptionable

I think I can answer that, or at least I hope. I with the Sony shoot the nights at 800 to enjoy the second "scalino" of dynamic range, which the sensor activates from 640 ISO onwards.
Using higher ISOs would not make sense, because so much would lose only dynamic range on the highlights (the stars).
Using lower ISOs (100) and increasing them in post, instead leads to a reduced range at low lights, precisely because of the famous "scalino" located around 640 ISO.

Wonderful.
Sorry I ask you so many questions, but they also serve to understand the remarkable commitment that comes out of this series of shots.
Some questions: what astrotracker did you use? How many poses have you performed and how many have you superimposed? The exposure times of the starry sky? and above all: how much patience, weather, cold, I'm going to take your equipment to altitude 8-)

Congratulations first of all for the words and thought spent in your description, really representative and a stimulus for many of us. Coming to the shot and the location I say that it is really sensational, the union between this kind of places and the time when the photo is taken by a surreal result that repays the efforts made (and often also the cold that you ate while the shutter remained xD open).
I say that I was in the Dolomites a short time ago and have just returned, I can't wait to see some good results, although not always completely original ;-) :-D

Hello.. nice picture. but for long laying times. 30 seconds later. shouldn't there be the stripes of the stars like in the startrails?
pure curiosity.

Gorgeous! Looking at this photo I want to take the backpack and return to the Dolomites of Brenta for 3 days of trekking and photos ;-)

@Ossiani, if you use a startracker you do not get startrails but point stars, essentially the camera and lens set is turned in correspondence with the apparent motion of the stars in the sky so that the framing of the portion of the celestial vault always remains the same in the exposure, while of course the portion of the earth framed by moving the camera moves relative to the initial frame. That's why there will be another stationary car shot to take up the mountain. Later in postproduction the celestial vault will be combined with the mountains with a game of masks and countermasks.

I ask you for information about the realization: you took first the photos of the mountains (with their exhibits) and then the photos to the stars (with a tracker). Is that correct? How long did the exposure take to have such beautiful stars? Then there is a lot of post-production work to be done or already in the shots you see well lights and colors?
Thank you so much!

It's a beautiful image, no matter if made with one or 100 shots, it's a dream, period. Congratulations!!!
