“Il Santuario della Madonna della Corona è certamente il più conosciuto e il più frequentato tra i numerosi Santuari veronesi dedicati con diverso titolo alla Vergine Maria. Questa costatazione probabilmente si spiega anche per il fascino del luogo dove è situata la piccola chiesa, arroccata su una roccia impervia come un nido d'aquila, a cui si può accedere, salendo, in spirito penitenziale, a piedi da Brentino con un'ora abbondante di faticoso cammino, oppure più comodamente in macchina fino a Spiazzi, dove un pulmino conduce i pellegrini a pochi metri dal Santuario.Il motivo tuttavia più importante dell'attrattiva esercitata sui numerosi pellegrini è costituito certamente dalla sincera devozione alla Madonna, rappresentata dall'immagine dell'Addolorata, ai piedi della quale si legge la data 1432. Fin dai tempi lontani quel luogo montagnoso, difficile da raggiungere, fu meta di pellegrini. Può sembrare strano, ma è un fatto che si ripete: i santuari che si raggiungono con fatica sono amati e ricercati perché esprimono l'amore alla persona venerata, la disponibilità a seguirLa e quanto stia a cuore al pellegrino il dono che sta per chiedere. Rientra in questa sensibilità anche il coraggioso gesto compiuto da uno fra i più significativi, illuminati, operosi e celebri vescovi di Verona Mons.
