Definendo i tratti formali della fotografia in modo quanto mai chiaro (aggiungo: il fatto che una fotografia possa o meno comunicare qualcosa, io non credo che l'aspetto formale sia mai irrilevante, nel bene o nel male...)
Il tuo commento suggerisce poi una ulteriore riflessione...
Altre volte mi è capitato che ci fossero rilievi al formato: è interessante come i metodi di fruizione della fotografia ne influenzino le caratteristiche e la percezione...
Un tempo, verticale od orizzontale erano sostanzialmente osservati in nodo più o meno analogo. Anzi, per una pubblicazione il formato verticale aveva il grande pregio di poter essere gestito per la pagina intera. E per alcuni generi, il ritratto per esempio, era quasi un must assoluto.
Con l'avvento del monitor le cose sono cambiate e spesso ci si accorge che, per le generazioni (fotografiche) più giovani perlomeno, il verticale appare quasi un'anomalia...
