Il Faro dell'Ile Vierge è un monumento che si trova nel comune di Plouguerneau (Finistère, Bretagna). Il governo francese acquistò l'isola nel 1840 per costruirvi un faro. Si tratta di una torre quadrata di granito alta 32 metri, con una portata di 14 miglia, inaugurata nell'Agosto 1845, che però si rivelò fin da subito inadatta ad illuminare quel largo tratto di mare. Nel 1882 quindi le autorità decisero di costruire un nuovo faro, senza abbattere il vecchio, ma i lavori iniziarono nel 1897 per terminare solo nel 1902. Il risultato ad oggi è una torre cilindrica in granito scuro di Kersanton, con una base di 13,20 metri e alta ben 82 metri che diventa il più alto faro d'Europa, superando anche la Lanterna di Genova (77 metri ? primato detenuto fino a quel momento). Foderato con 12.500 piastrelle in vetro opalino realizzate da Saint-Gobain. Ci sono cinque gradini per la porta d'ingresso. All'interno, 360 gradini di pietra e 32 di ferro, per un totale di 397 gradini, portano alla piattaforma della lampada. Il fascio di luce doppio fornisce un flash bianco ogni 5 secondi, visibile per 27 miglia nautiche (50 km). Le maree, come in buona parte della Bretagna, secondo che siano alte o basse, occupano o liberano centinaia di metri di spiaggia. Scatto effettuato nel Settembre 2018.
