Se avrete la possibilità di visitare in una calda, tarda estate la piana di Hverir (che è uno dei più importanti e scenici siti di attività vulcanica in Islanda e nel Mondo), avrete buona possibilità di trovarvi di fronte a questo spettacolo. I piccoli bacini lacustri evaporando nel periodo estivo lasciano spazio ad enormi sedimenti argillosi, che a causa delle molteplici presenze minerarie in zona acquisiscono sfumature di colore meravigliose. Fate molta attenzione perchè alcuni punti nascondono ancora delle pozze di acqua sulfurea nel sottosuolo, ed oltre che sporcarvi potreste anche rischiare una grave ustione!
