L'equinozio è il momento preciso in cui il Sole si trova allo zenit dell'equatore della Terra, cioè esattamente sopra la testa di un ipotetico osservatore che si trovi in un punto specifico sulla linea dell'equatore (più o meno in mezzo all'oceano Pacifico).
