L'altra sera in Galleria, ho visto questo carrettino parcheggiato vicino alla libreria Feltrinelli e immediatamente mi è tornato in mente il gelataio del mio paese. Santino, girava di giorno e di sera per la piazza principale e nella villa comunale, gridando: “Gelati, gelati”, e noi bambini, veloci più della luce, circondavamo il suo triciclo attrezzato, per il nostro cono quotidiano. Santino era un ragazzone, vestiva con molta eleganza pantaloni neri e giacchetta bianca, completavano il suo abbigliamento, cappellino e papillon. Quando non urlava il suo “gelati”, suonava un grosso campanello di ottone che aveva sempre a portata di mano. Era instancabile, ti accoglieva sempre con il suo bel sorriso, ai più piccoli faceva una carezza. D'estate, sotto il sole cocente di luglio e agosto, si faceva il giro delle spiagge e nelle più affollate si fermava di più, perché c'era sempre la fila per il suo gelato che era il più buono del paese. Risento ancora quel gusto speziato di vaniglia e cioccolato fondente, ma soprattutto ricordo con molta nostalgia quei tempi. Il ragazzone di tanti anni fa, oggi ha 80 primavere, ben portate, e quando l'ho rivisto qualche mese fa, ci siamo riabbracciati con emozione, lui ricordava una bimba, io un bel ragazzo, oggi nonno felice di cinque nipotini.
