L'Oenothera odorata L. appartiene alla famiglia delle Onagraceae ed è originaria del Sud America. Comunemente è chiamata Enagra odorosa o Enotera odorosa. E' pianta difficile da trovare in natura, ma è facile da trovare nei giardini in quanto frequentemente coltivata per uso ornamentale. Il nome del genere pare possa avere due origini: o dal greco "oinos" = " vino" e "ther" = "selvatico", forse per l'uso aromatizzante della radice o come stimolante per le libagioni, oppure dal greco "onos" = "asino" = e "ther" = "animale", forse perché utilizzata come alimento per gli asini. Il nome comune deriva dal fatto che il fiore è profumato. Lo scatto è stato effettuato nel mese di Giugno 2018 presso il Giardino Botanico Alpinia, Comune di Stresa (VCO), ad una quota di circa 800 m. slm.
