Voracissimo ed insaziabile, il bruco della Sfinge dell'euforbia si tuffa sull'ennesima foglia ...dopo averne fatte fuori un centinaio in pochi giorni! Le foglie di euforbia contengono un lattice velenoso ed il bruco mette in mostra colori sgargianti per segnalare ad eventuali predatori che esso costituirebbe un pasto sgradevole e pericoloso. In questa maniera il bruco, che alla nascita misura pochi millimetri, pascola tranquillamente sui ciuffi della pianta crescendo velocemente fino a misurare circa 9 centimetri in un paio di settimane. Poi si impupa e dalla crisalide, dopo un periodo che varia notevolmente in funzione della temperatura ambientale, sfarfallerà la falena adulta.
