….La Cornovaglia ci aveva accolto in modo diffidente. Il clima del Regno Unito dopo due giorni manteneva la sua nomina di incerto, grigio ed uggioso. Abbiamo investito tempo e danaro per essere qui, abbiamo preparato il tutto per mesi in modo minuzioso,meticoloso e con puntiglio cercando di non tralasciare nessun dettaglio; strade da solcare, sentieri da percorrere,ore di luce,fasi solari e maree. In loco di certo non ci risparmiamo fisicamente, ci alziamo alle 03.15 per fotografare l'alba e rimaniamo fino all'ultimo raggio di luce fuori casa, percorriamo km in auto e a piedi, mangiamo poco e quando capita,un tramezzino ad una stazione di servizio, un biscotto in auto, una frutta; camminiamo sotto la pioggia, sferzati dal vento,accarezzati da una pungente brezza oceanica,ma nonostante ciò la Cornovaglia non ci ripaga e siamo impotenti e piccoli dinanzi la natura. Mercoledi è un giorno importante, in scaletta c'è una delle mete più belle dell'intera Cornovaglia, l'alba ci regala un po' di ottimismo ma siamo tutti concentrati sul tramonto odierno. Dopo una leggera e facile sgambata a Portchurno ed una salita al Minack Thatre ( un teatro con vista oceano) intorno alle 18.00 ricarichiamo in auto e spacchiamo letteralmente in due la Cornovaglia scendendo nel profondo sud dove ad attenderci c'è l'immensità dell'oceano. Parcheggiamo e prendiamo il sentiero che da Sennen Cove ci avrebbe portato al posto scelto. Qualche scatto lungo la strada,nessuno ha voglia di sbilanciarsi sul meteo,con un'occhio guardiamo per terra con l'altro guardiamo il cielo cercando di carpirne l'evoluzione … Intorno le 19.30 la luce inizia a diventare più morbida,acceleriamo il passo e raggiungiamo la meta. Ognuno sceglie con cura il suo posto in base al suo modo di vedere, di scattare,di ragionare ad istinto ed attendiamo … Ad un tratto dall'orizzonte iniziano a sbucare i colori ed un potente fascio di luce solca l'oceano accarezzandolo e trapassa come fosse una lama l'insenatura dello scoglio ad arco posto sotto di noi. La scogliera a strapiombo sulla destra si illumina di una luce dorata,qualche nuvola completa la scena. E' il momento!! Con un'occhio inquadro e scatto, con l'altro mi godo lo spettacolo ….
