Vigàta è una città immaginaria siciliana creata da Andrea Camilleri, in cui sono ambientate le indagini del Montalbano e altri romanzi storici dello stesso autore, nell'altrettanto immaginaria provincia di Montelusa. In questo bar sono nati molti personaggi, tra cui il famoso commissario.
La città Vigàta corrisponde nella realtà a Porto Empedocle, città natale di Camilleri.
Lui tornava spesso nella sua amata città e si sedeva fino ad anni fa a questo Bar e con voce alta, gracchiante inconfondibile, spezzava il silenzio della sera di una Vigata attonita «Preparami i purpiteddi in biancu e mi raccumannu, mittitici puru u limuni» e io questa voce gracchiante inconfondibile l'ho sentita davvero tanti anni fa, mangiavo e a pochi metri c'era lui, avrei voluto tanto stringergli la mano, ma ho preferito non disturbarlo.
