Nel corso del mio ultimo viaggio in Egitto, ho avuto la fortuna di visitare il villaggio nubiano di Assuan. Lo raggiungiamo, percorrendo il Nilo in battello, dopo aver fatto una sosta su una duna di sabbia del deserto. Lasciato il deserto, raggiungiamo un tipico villaggio nubiano che si presente con case dai colori sgargianti, gente dai sorrisi smaglianti, bambini pieni di allegria che ci vengono incontro…uno di quei luoghi che ti rapiscono dal primo istante. Dopo una veloce passeggiata tra le stradine in terra battuta, dove veniamo fermati da ogni negoziante intento a vendere i propri prodotti, come potete vedere in questa foto, visitiamo una tipica abitazione nubiana, una di quelle caratteristiche case tradizionali in argilla intonacata e dipinta a mano, dove veniamo accolti da una famiglia intera che ci offre dell'ottimo thè e del karkadè. Il popolo nubiano è tra i più ospitali del paese e ce ne rendiamo immediatamente conto. Purtroppo, molte delle testimonianze storiche di questa antica ed affascinante civiltà, così come tanti altri villaggi nubiani, sono andati perduti a causa della costruzione della grande diga di Assuan nel 1971 ma fortunatamente coloro che sono sopravvissuti, portano avanti le proprie tradizioni, tramandandole di generazione in generazione!
