Firenze ... gennaio 2018 ... Prospicente l'omonimo Lungarno con la sua elegante facciata in stile tardobarocco e dai singolari corpi di fabbrica asimmetrici, di cui uno rientrato, il Palazzo fatto erigere da Bartolomeo Corsini a far data dal 1656 con il contributo di architetti del calibro di Alfonso Parigi, Ferdinando Tacca e Pierfrancesco Silvani, è forse la più sfarzosa residenza privata dell'intera città. Degna dimora per la famiglia di banchieri e commercianti che nel grigio seicento fiorentino poteva vantare i più ricchi forzieri cittadini, eccezion fatta, ovviamente, per quelli del Granduca! ... Curiosa e degna di nota la "triangolazione finanziaria" ante litteram che a partire dal trecento consentì al casato una strepitosa ascesa sociale: il Banco Corsini conquistò, con sagacia e perizia, piazze prestigiose per i propri sportelli di credito e tra queste Londra, dove divenne in breve uno dei più rinomati e fiorenti istituti finanziari; l'immenso patrimonio accumulato dal Banco fu reinvestito in grandi e redditizie proprietà fondiarie, soprattutto sul territorio dello Stato Pontificio; censo e politica garantirono presto il titolo di Marchese al capofamiglia, poi trasformato in Principe da Urbano VII e nel 1740 Lorenzo Corsini salì al soglio pontificio col nome di Clemente XII! ...
