Come ormai tutti sapete, all'incontro fiorentino, siamo stati ospitati dall'hotel Rivoli, vicinissimo a Santa Maria Novella. Hotel molto bello e ricco di storia, ve ne dò un piccolo saggio come didascalia di questo salottino, adiacente la hall dove molti di noi si sono un po' raccontati. L'Hotel Rivoli ha iniziato la sua attività per la Pasqua del 1964 convertendo, in albergo, l'edificio occupato dal preesistente Convento delle Suore Canossiane posto in Via della Scala al n° 33 ed acquistato dalla Sig.ra Mirra Vegni ved. Caridi insieme al figlio Gianni. L'edifcio costituente il nucleo più antico dell'odierno Hotel Rivoli nacque nel XIV secolo proprio come “spedale” annesso ad un piccolo convento abitato dai religiosi che lo gestivano. Nonostante i numerosi rimaneggiamenti e le stratificazioni architettoniche dei secoli successivi, rimangono leggibili alcune caratteristiche stilistiche e strutturali che rivelano l'epoca e l'uso primitivi.
