La cittadina di Porto Ceresio si affaccia sulla sponda italiana del lago di Lugano. Si trova in prossimità del confine italo/elvetico. La sua vocazione turistica si rileva soprattutto nelle giornate estive quando la lunga passeggiata sul lago si riempie di gente. Porto Ceresio è anche nota per alcuni fatti storici: nel settembre del 1944 e gennaio del 1945 si tennero presso villa Treves, ancor oggi visibile appena fuori il centro del paese, due incontri tra Benito Mussolini ed alcuni esponenti del governo britannico, inviati da Churcill a proposito della trattativa segreta trai due. Commnenti e critiche sempre graditi.
