Kuchava is a female leopard about 3.5 years old. Kuchava means scared in the local language. Names are given to leopards at about 18 months old because if they have survived this long they have a good chance of living a long life. The name represents the leopards personality as observed by the local rangers/guides up until 18 months. Of course their personality may change from that point on and Kuchava these days is quite confident. You can see a small amount of drool from her mouth in this photo as she had just mated with one of the dominant males Tingana.
