Alle Colonne di San Lorenzo, questa bella fanciulla, allieva dell'Istituto d'Arte, faceva disegno a carboncino, insieme ad altre amiche, sotto l'occhio vigile dell'insegnante. Mi sono avvicinata, si è fatta fotografare (poi le ho mandato la foto che vedete), e mi ha detto che spesso, è in rotta con i genitori, perché, con i tempi che corrono, sono sicuri che non riuscirà a trovare un lavoro e meno che meno, ad affermarsi come libera professionista. Ma Manuela, non demorde: "Il disegno e la pittura sono la mia grande passione,anche se qualche volta non posso fare a meno di ammettere che i miei hanno ragione. Ma subito dopo prevale l'ottimismo e, allora, finisco col credere che lottando, dandosi da fare e dimostrando quel che si è, forse qualcuno mi prenderà sul serio e mi aprirà le porte...Quel giorno se mai, dovesse arrivare, sarà il più bello della mia vita".
