Non molti giorni fa mi alzo all'alba per andare a lavoro. Percorsi alcuni chilometri e giunto ai margini della città mi accorgo che l'Etna è sormontata da una bella nube lenticolare. Un fenomeno atmosferico non comunissimo, ma di rara bellezza. In quel momento mi sono mangiato le mani, perché fotografata da un punto di osservazione adeguato avrebbe consentito di ottenere scatti meravigliosi. Ma purtroppo bisogna prenderla con filosofia, per cui ho solo cercato di fare il massimo che potevo: mi sono accostato, ho tirato fuori la piccola Sony e ho scattato. Trovandomi molto distante i 70mm della RX100 non sono bastati, quindi ho dovuto applicare un ritaglio generoso. Inoltre ho scelto il formato 16:9 (che uso rarissimamente) perché era l'unico che mi convinceva veramente per questa foto; volevo isolare a sufficienza la scena principale ed eliminare il superfluo.
