Questa foto l'ho scattata in uno dei miei tanti viaggi in Egitto, e precisamente ad Assuan. E' una fabbrica, dove una cinquantina di egiziani di tutte le età (solo uomini), lavorano gesso, argilla, e altro materiale, ricavandone, capitelli, statuette, simboli dell'antico Egitto. Ormai è di rigore, quando si va in crociera o ci si affida a un viaggio organizzato, la guida di turno, vi accompagna in questi posti, per acquistare oggetti, tuniche, papiri e souvenirs di tutti i generi. I prezzi sono abbastanza modesti, ma se ti lasci prendere la mano, spendi un capitale. Ho parlato con qualcuno di questi artigiani, guadagnano una miseria e di ore ne fanno spesso, anche dodici al giorno. Mi hanno detto che chi guadagna bene, in questo Paese, sono i proprietari di barche e feluche che, accompagnano i turisti in giro per il Nilo, o i fortunati possessori di una laurea in lingue che, lavora presso i vari Tour Operator. Amhed, mi dice: "Lo stipendio di una guida è basso, ma i veri soldi, e anche tanti, li fanno a fine tour, quando il capo gruppo, gli consegna, quello che ha raccolto dall'intero gruppo.
