La Chiesa di San Francesco d'Assisi, posta in posizione di spicco al termine di Via del Corso e all'inizio di Via Ridola, al limitare dell'omonima grande piazza chiara e luminosa, ci presenta una ampia e regolare facciata barocca, risalente al 18esimo secolo, pur essendo originaria del duecento, in quanto fu varie volte modificata fino a raggiungere l'aspetto attuale. La facciata, opera degli architetti Vito Valentino e Tommaso Pennetta, si presenta armonicamente disposta su due piani divisi lateralmente da cornicioni marcapiano, e attraversata da lesene che terminano in acroteri che slanciano e raccordano le due parti. Nella parte inferiore, le cinque finestre e il portale sono circondati da delicate volute vegetali, mentre nella parte superiore, al centro, nella nicchia, statua della Madonna Immacolata, con angeli che reggono il ricco drappeggio barocco, mentre al limitare del marcapiano, a destra San Francesco, a sinistra Sant'Antonio da Padova.
