Il commissario Montalbano passa anche da queste parti :-) Infatti alcune scene della famosa serie televisiva vengono riprese anche in questa splendida cittadina barocca che si trova in provincia di Ragusa. Nel 2002 il suo centro storico è stato insignito del titolo di Patrimonio dell'Umanità da parte dell'UNESCO, insieme con altri sette comuni nella lista delle Città tardo barocche del Val di Noto. La caratteristica conformazione del territorio ha plasmato questa città che è stata edificata nei secoli rispettando le geometrie dettate dalla Natura e questo le conferisce l'aspetto di un presepe. La bellissima Chiesa di San Matteo domina, dal colle dove è stata costruita, il sito della città vecchia. È il simbolo di Scicli ed è stata chiesa Madre fino al 1874. È l'edificio ecclesiastico più antico; alcuni storiografi ne fanno risalire la fondazione all'epoca paleocristiana, altri alla dominazione normanna.
