Questo mercato risale al 14esimo secolo, quando l'emiro Dajaharks Al-Khalili fece costruire il complesso commerciale sul sito della tomba di Za'afran, il tradizionale luogo di sepoltura dei regnanti Fatimidi in Egitto.
