una colonia di topini inaspettata. Particolare e molto caratteristica è la loro modalità di costruzione del nido, essi infatti nidificano scavando un tunnel negli argini dei fiumi dove si trova lo strato di sabbia fine, nella camera di cova mettono diverse piume e fili d'erba secca che trovano in loco. I tunnel però anche se profondi non sono completamente sicuri dagli attacchi dei predatori, infatti sono stati svariati i nidi attaccati dalla volpe che scavando è riuscita a raggiungere la camera di cova mangiando i piccoli.
