L'altra sera rivedendo in tv, il film di Martone: "Il giovane favoloso", biografia di Leopardi, mi è tornata in mente questa foto fatta due mesi fa a Recanati. Come al solito, ho messo due note esplicative:Uno dei luoghi da vedere del Comune di Recanati è la Torre del Passero Solitario, visibile nel cortile del chiostro di Sant'Agostino. La torre infatti appartiene al complesso conventuale, che risale al XIII secolo. La torre, che ora presenta la cuspide mozzata da una saetta a metà del XIX secolo, è legata alla poesia “Il Passero Solitario” composta da Giacomo Leopardi, la cui versione definitiva uscì nel 1835. "D'in su la vetta della torre antica, passero solitario, alla campagna cantando vai finché non muore il giorno, ed erra l'armonia per questa valle. Di questa sublime lirica del Leopardi, purtroppo non si conosce l'anno di composizione. Nei “Canti “ si trova all'undicesimo posto, come prologo agli “Idilli “e subito prima “dell'Infinito”. Questa collocazione ha inizialmente lasciato supporre i critici che la lirica fosse stata composta nel 1819, anche perché in quell'anno Leopardi citò il passero solitario in un appunto ove segnò un elenco di argomenti di possibili idilli futuri. Altri critici, invece farebbero risalire la data di composizione fra il 1829 e il 1830. L'unica certezza è la sua pubblicazione nel 1835 nell'edizione napoletana nei “Canti”. La metafora che sottintende i versi, è il paragone fra l'autore, che, come il passero solitario, vive pensoso, solitario e in disparte, la propria giovinezza; ma, mentre il passero non soffre della sua solitudine e non avrà rimpianti al momento della morte perché la solitudine è per lui un fatto naturale , il poeta rimpiangerà di aver sciupato la propria giovinezza e, quasi, di non aver vissuto. . La lirica esprime il senso di angoscia e di disperazione che prende il poeta quando, scoprendosi solo, sente tutta la tristezza del suo vivere chiuso in se stesso.
