Spectacular, if only to have thought. Realization beautiful and delicate, a harmony of light and darkness of rare beauty. And I thought that the fireflies were extinct .. This is the essence of photography.

66tasca, Adinalexa, Andrea, Flavio, Omar, Flory, Pisolomau, Calicot, Walter, Caiman, Antino Sharpness and a huge thank you to everyone for the wonderful comments and appreciation :-)

@ Pisolomau: ten years ago there was a period of "break" lasted 3 summers in which I have not seen even one and the fear was your own :-/ then stop after this started again to appear in number growing and I have to say that (thankfully) always come every summer since then! the flight takes a fortnight, early to mid-July, and is pure entertainment every evening ;-)

Hello Dexter,

to my taste the detail "small" (trees and vegetation in general) takes effect with the fireflies. I would have preferred less light on the trunks. With this management the image does not transmit sensations of darkness. I also find the final result too "cardboard". Finally, what gives me this photo is an exasperated search of the "form", maybe (just maybe) at the expense of content. May I ask how you find it so important to have a lot of detail about the whole scenario?

Thank you,

Lucky

Fortunato hello, thank you very much for the analysis :-)

I can tell you is that swarmed in the 15 days I did a lot of tests in the background just to decide what would be the best way to resume it. after the first night I realized that the Fireflies the "right" way, given the intermittent, it was a relatively short time (20-30 seconds) and a high sensitivity so as to be well-defined flash of light. to avoid having to merge multiple shots and have quite a number of bright spots (as it was at the end) I did tests at lower ISO and exposure time much longer (the maximum is ISO 400 and almost 4 minutes as amount of points enough already this shot alone, but the points were too "dull" and then nada! far the speech glowworms ;-)
for the background but I preferred it is legible and noise-free as possible to recreate the most of what I saw it live. I did tests with faint background (basically using some pictures just before they started swarming fireflies) and the "scene" just for them ... but did not give me the same impact, was a series of bright dots surrounded in a vacuum. live with eyes, since shaman around 9.30, the background is still visible and what you see are not in the pitch dark dots on a background light intermittence but perfectly recognizable. :-)

having said that ... it is obvious that it is the first experiment more or less successful, next year I'll definitely try other solutions and have feedback of this kind can only be a good boost in nautical milespray ;-)
