at 300mm, 1/250 f/8.0, ISO 200, tripod. Specie: Upupa epops

Fabio

hello, I was struck by the photos, beautiful, from your story, and your explanation, when I see stories and explanations like this, I understand the value of a forum like this, people transparent, respectful of nature and the next and very very technically prepared ... a virtual hug and pleasure to have "known"
PS did you do 30, do 31, few details about the PP system, which Qusta image and all that is behind it deserves plenty of ...

A good job and a valuable technical background. I can only imagine the layout of the flash, but I think with a unit on the bottom (slightly off center) towards the hoopoe'd get a form of general lighting even more interesting and balanced.

Claudio Ceriali:
As I wrote in the pc, computer screens etc.. a few weeks ago, my pc was pulling the bucket.
Since Sunday is definitely dead and I'm moving to another assemblarne.
At the moment I do not have access to the hard disk when it is ready but the new will post the original shot without the intervention of curves although in this case, however, the background can be difficult to read as it came out of the car already very dark.
Therefore also be posting a shot taken without flash light where then you will understand what the background is horrible. Be patient a little ....

By Luigi Piccirillo:
In truth the third point light at the bottom oriented hoopoe has been used well in fact if you look at the neck, as you can see onthe back is clearer than on the front.
But I think I should decentrarlo even more into the background in order to create more three-dimensional due to an almost backlight.
Finding the perfect pattern, and the powers in the use of flash is not easy but in the end the beauty is in this!

Thank you all for the visits and appreciation.

Your hoopoe are all very nice ... Bravissimo!

But I'll leave a message more than anything else to thank you for the explanation of the use of flash in broad daylight ...
There are dozens of years, in some way, I try to take pictures.
But I had never thought of using artificial lighting as you did in these pictures.
You've really opened new horizons to experiment!
And thank you so much for this.

Until next time ... ;-)

Thank you!
In fact, in broad daylight hardly get results like that.
My luck was that the nest was located in a very dark even during the day and yet I have only ever taken in the early hours of the day.
Also underexpose the scene at best, you have to deal with the min. time synchronization of the camera with the flash, which in my case is 1/250.
Too slow as to exclude time from exposure to daylight with the negative effect of creating ghost images due to flash + ambient light.
The only reason I regret my first digital SLR (D70) is for his extraordinary sync speed of 1/500 that would allow me to push me to use this technique with more ambient light.
