Si tratta della chiesa di San Giovanni Battista situata in alta Valle Maggia (Canton Ticino) Piu precisamente nel comune di Lavizzara, nella frazione di Mogno.... Il progetto è dell'architetto Mario Botta di Lugano, artefice della ricostruzione del monumento, in vece dell'antica chiesa seicentesca distrutta da una valanga il 25 aprile del 1986... Lavori iniziati nel 1992 ed ultimati nel 1996.... La ricostruzione è avvenuta sullo stesso tracciato dell'antica chiesa, con lo stesso orientamento, su una base di forma ellittica all'esterno e rettangolare all'interno, tetto circolare inclinato... L'altezza della chiesa corrisponde a quella del vecchio campanile... Il sagrato sostituisce l'area del cimitero, l'ossario è ricostruito nella stessa sua posizione precedente... Le due campane che portano la data 1746 sono gli unici elementi recuperati dopo la valanga di neve che ha completamente travolto e distrutto l'antica chiesetta....
